Description

Colorized photo image of Soldiers' Monument in Tracy Park, flanked by cannons. It was dedicated in 1879. Henry Lorberg: "it cost $6500.00 and was presented to the city by the Ladies Union Soldiers Circle. The statue represents John Barnes, first man from Scioto County to make the supreme sacrifice in the Civil War. He was killed at Viena, and the Sons of Veterans organization bears that name. The park was presented to the city by Francis Campbell in 1853, owner of the Barr Addition, and named in honor of Samuel F. Tracy, his attorney."
